Academic Points

Students must earn 8 Academic Points, distributed among the 3 Milestones. Detailed instructions for documentation and verification are posted in your Honors Cohort in Canvas. Academic point categories are subject to change. Students can find many opportunities to fulfill requirements each week in their Honors on Wednesday e-news.

Milestone I

2–4 Academic Points in the Honors Course Category earned by taking 2 honors courses

2024 cohort and prior: 2 points via 2 credits of honors courses

Milestone II

2 Academic Points in ANY category

Milestone III

2–4 Academic Points in ANY category

2024 cohort and prior: 4 points in any category

Academic Point Categories

1 Academic Point

1 credit Honors course (earned with a "B" or higher)
Honors Study Abroad (plus 1-2 Enrichment Points)
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (limit 2 semesters)
Declared Minor or UF academic certificate program
Application for a nationally competitive prestigious fellowship (limited; approval required)
Publication in a refereed undergraduate journal (e.g. UF Journal of Undergraduate Research)
Presentation at a state / regional conference or academic case competition
Satisfactory completion of International Scholars Program (plus 2 enrichment points)
Prestigious Honor Society membership (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, or Beta Gamma Sigma only)

2 Academic Points

2+ credit Honors course, including Honors Course Contract (earned with a "B" or higher)
Undergraduate research (limit 2 semesters; cannot overlap w/ other categories)
Graduate course (5000+ level) taken before earning undergraduate degree - including via Combination Degree Programs
Declared Double or triple major
Publication in a refereed academic journal
Presentation at an inter/national conference or academic case competition

3 Academic Points

Satisfactory completion of an Honors Thesis in the major
Completion of the CALS Honors Scholars Certificate
